Susan Taylor-Demming Biography

Susan Taylor-Demming serves as the school board’s Vice President and previously served as Board Secretary. Susan is running for her third term as a board servant leader and has been an active part of the District 204 community since her children entered IPSD in 2001. She and her husband, Albert helped establish WVHS PAGES parent group. Susan was also a charter member of the district’s Project Arrow PTA and co-authored the establishing By-Laws.
Susan is proud of the her board leadership during her two terms and points to the following accomplishments; 1) The district implemented it’s first strategic plan, a guide to ensure meaningful goals are set and accomplished; 2) Susan led efforts for this board to author a state board association, Equity Belief Statement.It was adopted by school boards across the state and became an official Belief Statement ; 3)A $420,000,000 referendum passed in the fall of ‘24 by a 76% voter approval, allowing for safety and security measures to be implemented across the district, in addition to much needed updates especially in some of our 30 year+ buildings; 4) A district boundary realignment, which is never an easy undertaking, but was so critical as we had schools on the north side of the district which were overcrowded, with schools on the south at less than 40% utilization. She has continued to work on initiatives to enhance struggling students' academic success.
Professionally, Taylor-Demming is the Executive Director for Elgin Community College’s Foundation, working with corporations and individuals to enhance ECC’s endowment and investment opportunities geared towards providing student scholarships. Formerly a corporate marketing executive at Viacom, she negotiated multi-million dollar contracts for core product distribution.
Susan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Rice University, an MBA in Marketing/Management from Columbia University and is a doctoral candidate. She is married and has 2 daughters who matriculated through IPSD 204 schools. Her term expires in 2025.
