Hello Indian Prairie School District 204,
Four years ago, I shared my commitment to Education Excellence Everyday for every 204 student. As I seek re-election in 2021, my promise is to continue to serve and advocate for all students, staff, and district constituents through an equitable, compassionate, and inclusive lens.
Pandemic 2020 has brought enormous challenges for our children, families, and educators. The health and safety of all school participants, as well as family members has been paramount to the decisions made during this past year and will continue to guide my board input. Championing our students and educators is vital as we move forward. Board support must be unwavering, all-encompassing and pupil-centered.
I am proud of our district accomplishments and my individual contributions over the last four years including:
- Increased enrollment for underrepresented students in AP classes
- Co-chair for our board’s District Equity Statement process
- Largest 1:1 technology roll out in the state (2nd-12th grades)
- Increased pre-school opportunities for all students
Additionally, I authored the Equity Belief Statement submitted by our board and adopted by the Illinois Association of School Boards. It is the state’s current Belief Statement for Equity guiding school boards throughout Illinois.
— Susan Taylor Demming
As we move forward, we must be attuned to helping our students maintain both their social and emotional health, while creating robust academic and career pathways. These objectives are all critical for our students.
Re-entering school as quickly and safely as possible is first and foremost. However, district fiscal policy, municipal planned land development strategic discussions, and supports for all students to ensure their success are key issues that will continue to be priorities. It is my pledge to provide the necessary strategic leadership as we grapple with these tough decisions. Yet, I will remain forward thinking as we plan for the future and Education Excellence Everyday for all students and staff. This sentiment embodies what I hoped for my girls as they traversed their Indian Prairie School District secondary education and is the same precept I wish for all of our children in District 204.
Thank you for allowing me to serve and THANK YOU for your VOTE on April 6, 2021!
